For Contributors

Guidelines & Ethics

A short note on what we look for, how we read, and the spirit we hope each contributor brings to the page.

I.

Editorial Standards

We love original, evidence-based writing — work that takes its reader seriously. Please cite your sources where you can, and try to verify the facts you rely on. Chicago author-date style is our default, but we're flexible if your piece calls for something else. Originality matters to us, so please submit work that is yours.

II.

AI Policy

Generative AI is a helpful research and editing companion, and you're welcome to use it — we just ask that AI-generated text stays at or below roughly 10–12% of your final piece. Please mention any AI assistance in your submission notes so we have full context. The voice, argument, and accountability for the work should remain yours.

III.

Formatting Notes

As a general guide: opinion pieces 800–1,500 words, features 1,500–3,000, and research 3,000–6,000. Submit as .docx or .pdf, or paste your text into the submission form. Images are welcome — please send them at least 1500px wide and include a credit. Headings, pull quotes, and dek lines are encouraged where they help the reader.

IV.

Review Process

We aim to read every submission within 3–4 business days. If we'd like to move forward, we'll come back with edits or notes. We try our best to respond personally to everyone who writes in — even if a piece isn't quite the right fit for the current issue.
